It is hard to lead if you don’t have a vision of the future.

It doesn’t have to be great. It doesn’t have to be correct. It doesn’t have to be far off. It doesn’t have to be revolutionary. It doesn’t have to be reasonable. It doesn’t have to be popular. It doesn’t even have to be originally yours.

But if you want to lead, you have to have one. Somewhere to point to. Something to direct towards. Somehow to get it done. Without a vision there is no place to go, no infrastructure to build, no people to recruit, no time to allocate, no scope to manage, no resources to expend and no interest from others.

So before you try to lead, make sure you have a vision. Because if you don’t, how can you possibly expect me to follow?
